Six blade gap settings. One razor. Every shaving preference covered.
The Merkur Futur has been made in Germany since 1986 - a design that has aged well precisely because it doesn't try to look timeless. It looks modern, deliberately so, with a sculptural profile and a Duo Clip blade-loading system that seats a DE blade without disassembly.
The adjustable handle lets you dial the blade gap and shaving angle to your exact preference - a wider gap for longer growth and more aggressive shaving, a narrower gap for daily maintenance and sensitive skin. One rotation of the handle is all it takes to move between settings.
Available in Matt Chrome and Polished Chrome. Die-cast zinc, galvanized and chrome-plated. Made in Solingen, Germany.
Who's It For
Shavers who want one razor that does everything - or who have already worked through a fixed-head razor and want more control over the shave. The Futur suits experienced wet shavers who know their preferences, and anyone whose skin or beard density changes enough through the week that a single fixed setting doesn't cover everything. Also a strong choice for anyone who shares a razor with a partner with different skin or beard characteristics.

How To Use
- Load a DE blade using the Duo Clip system - open the clip, seat the blade, close the clip
- Set the handle to your preferred blade gap: lower numbers for a gentler shave, higher for a more aggressive cut
- New to the Futur? Start at setting 2 or 3 and adjust from there
- Wet the face and apply shaving cream or lather with a brush
- Shave at roughly a 30-degree angle with light, short strokes in the direction of hair growth
- The weight of the razor provides natural pressure - no need to push down
- Rinse after each pass and adjust the setting if needed between passes
- Rinse the head and allow to air dry after each use
Why MASC Recommends This
The Futur is Merkur's answer to the question most experienced wet shavers eventually ask: what if I could adjust this? The adjustability isn't a gimmick - being able to set a wider gap for a three-day beard and narrow it back for daily skin maintenance is a genuine functional advantage. The Duo Clip loading and the one-rotation adjustment make it practical rather than fiddly. For shavers ready to move beyond a fixed-head razor, this is the most capable DE in the Merkur line.
