Same dimensions as the Black Label. Same QuickLoad magazine. Same Seki City origin. The Platinum Label blade adds a titanium PVD coating and a 19-degree cutting angle - sharper steel, more aggressive cut, less forgiving.
For SE owners who have the technique down and want the closest shave the razor can deliver. Not the blade to start on.
Who's It For
Experienced Single Edge SE shavers who've worked through at least one or two packs of Black Label and have their angle and pressure dialled in. The Platinum Label cuts closer to the skin and leaves less margin for error - the technique is the same, but small mistakes are slightly more noticeable. The result, when the technique is there, is a shave closer to a straight razor or the Single Edge MAX.
Key Benefits
- Titanium PVD coating holds the edge longer than uncoated stainless - more shaves before the pull starts to feel different
- 19-degree cutting angle cuts closer to the skin surface than the Black Label
- Most users get 10-12 shaves per blade - slightly more than the Black Label
- Same QuickLoad injector format - loads identically to the Black Label, no adjustment needed
- Same built-in used-blade slot for safe disposal
- Made in Seki City, Japan
- Same dimensions as the Black Label - switch between blades without changing anything else
How To Use
- Insert the key end of the magazine into the QuickLoad slot on the Single Edge SE head
- Push the slider toward the razor - the blade seats itself
- Use the same technique as Black Label - light pressure, with the grain, short strokes
- The margin for error is slightly smaller than Black Label - slow down if you feel resistance
- Replace when the pull changes, not on a schedule
- Dispose of used blades via the back-of-magazine slot and recycle the unit when empty
- Supply recommends starting on Black Label and moving to Platinum once the angle and pressure are consistent - usually after a pack or two.
Why MASC Recommends This
The Platinum Label is a natural second step for SE owners who've put in the time. The titanium coating is a meaningful upgrade over chromium - it holds the edge longer and the 19-degree angle gets the blade closer to the skin without requiring a different razor or a different technique. For shavers chasing the closest possible result from their SE, this is the blade to reach for.
