The straight razor experience - without the commitment.
The DOVO Shavette gives you the precision and ritual of a classic straight razor with one major upgrade: interchangeable blades. Snap in a fresh half of a double-edge blade and you're ready to go - no stropping, no honing, no fuss. It's why this razor is a staple in professional barbershops, and why it's equally at home in your bathroom.
The stainless steel version is the premium pick in the Shavette line. The tang and spine carry a polished, mirror-like finish, while the handle is kept matte - not just for looks, but for grip. Wet hands, no problem. The weight of the all-stainless build helps the razor glide across the face so you're doing less work and getting a cleaner result.

How To Use
- Remove the blade holder from the Shavette Break a standard double-edge blade in half along the paper packaging - you never touch the exposed edge Insert one half into the holder and reattach to the handle
- Wet the face and apply shaving cream or lather with a brush
- Hold the Shavette at roughly a 30-degree angle - flatter than instinct suggests
- Short, light strokes with the grain, skin stretched taut with your free hand
- Let the weight of the razor do the work - resist the urge to press down
- Rinse the blade holder and handle after each use, dry with a cloth, and add a drop of oil to the swivel joint occasionally
- Replace the blade after 3-4 shaves, or after each client in a barbershop setting
Why MASC Recommends This
A shavette trains you to shave with intention - the right angle, the right pressure, the right prep. The result is a closer, cleaner shave with less irritation over time than a cartridge delivers. DOVO invented the Shavette and has been refining it in Solingen since 1906. The stainless steel model is the version built for shavers who take the craft seriously - the weight, the grip, and the all-metal construction make it a tool that gets better to use as the technique develops. For barbers, the blade-swap system is a genuine hygiene advantage. For everyone else, it's the most capable Shavette DOVO makes.
