SCENT INSPIRATION:
"Gaze upon Atlanta long enough and you'll see
she deserves a love song
Look beyond the shiny new buildings and the crowded Fulton County streets
Find what’s underneath
A city built from ashes
remade time and time again
ever striving toward a more perfect union
Old southern drawls and accents fresh from far off places
in honest conversations of ugly pasts that have inspired hopeful futures
Stories that inform us but don’t imprison us
and a recognition that we made it here thanks to good troublemakers
who dreamed not of conquest but connection
Fulton celebrates more than her past
here and now, beauty abounds
remarkable art is everywhere–boutiques, museums, tunnel walls, our skin
and creative genius echoes through restaurants, film sets, dorm rooms, and concert halls
And Atlanta marches on
a city growing up and out, and into herself
never finished, and always becoming
Our love song to Fulton County, the home of Atlanta, begins with fresh and elegant notes of Amber Resin. But, like the city itself, its character lies in the complexity that dwells underneath your first impressions.
The warmth of White Peppercorn intermingles with effervescent Mandarin Rind and juicy Black Plum, paying tribute to the sumptuous and artistic culture of the city.
The honeyed richness of the Tea Olive in bloom–a familiar scent throughout the south—intertwines seamlessly with the complex and ethereal notes of Saffron, calling to mind the combination of old and new traditions in a city that is constantly welcoming people with fresh ideas, folding them into what is already a rich culture of diversity. In the shadows of the rich Vanilla Orchid and luxurious Cistus Labdanum, you’ll notice the whisper of smoldering Guiacwood, paying homage to the community that emerged from the ashes to form a spirited city full of life and a hopeful future."
A Note from the Perfumer: Gabriela Chelariu
Growing up in a small town in Romania, far from the world of fine fragrances, it was the changing of the seasons and the scent of nature that paved the way for Gabriela to find her passion for perfumery.“
Spring was a mixture of the freshness of the lingering snow, with new shoots of vegetation and the humid earth,” she says. “In June, the linden flower would bloom; I knew summer was approaching. And in winter, I remember my mother’s scent when she came in from the cold – musky and cool.”
“Even when we’ve learned everything there is to know, there is always doubt. A formula is like a well-written sentence: there are thousands of beautiful words from which to choose, but what makes it impactful is the emotion with which they are brought together.”
Gabriela studied to become a pharmacist, and her introduction to the fragrance industry came during her last year of school when she worked in a research lab for aroma chemicals and then visited Grasse. “It all crystallized,” she recalls. “Suddenly, I truly understood the role of a perfumer. This world became fully alive for me, and I knew that this would be my life.”
Her connection to nature remains constant, and her childhood continues to influence her creativity. “My upbringing still informs the way I create,” Gabriela shares. “My earliest olfactive memories are still powerful. Connecting my past to my present and using these memories to touch people’s lives with my creations is an ultimate privilege.”
