Sesame oil, Hempseed oil, Jojoba oil, Argan oil and Vitamin E.
Five Scents to Choose From:
This fragrance boasts a depth of character not to be missed. Its complexity is derived from the striking diversity among its four key essences. Classical, nature-derived aromas work in symphony to create a contemporary re-imagining of what a man’s fragrance ought to be.
Strapping, woody Cedar Atlas and Cedar Virginia stand alongside the brightness and warmth of Ho Wood and the delicate, floral fruitiness Ylang Ylang.
It’s a life-affirming hike through the woods on a cool, dewy dawn; it’s a rowboat reaching the center of a lake just before sunrise; it’s walking through the turnstile past the crowd, down the subway stairs and onto the train a split second before the doors close behind you. Williamsburg smells like personal triumph.
Why name a scent Williamsburg? Brooklyn Grooming loves Williamsburg because if you’re sensitive, quiet or attentive, you can positively feel a surge of creativity everywhere along the neighbourhood’s streets. The people in the area are passionate and driven. Often written off simply as hipsters (whatever that means), Williamsburg's residents are known for their fashion, lifestyle and sensibility that embraces and glamorizes the distinctly unglamorous, blending the best of the past with the cutting edge of tomorrow, perhaps only for the sake of irony or the novelty of juxtaposition. Either way, it’s inspired.
One of the guiding principles at Brooklyn Grooming is that “In order to achieve success, you must love what you do.”
Fort Greene Smells fresh and alive! Think of it as a cologne version of mechanic's grease (it does not smell like an auto-body shop). It has an aroma that is pointed, invigorating and masculine without being butch. It is NOT "masculine" in the way that traditional men's fragrances are. It doesn't smell like a fragrance: it's more like a delightful bonus breath for some lucky bystander when you happen to pass wearing it. With its distinct botanical notes of pine (thankyouverymuch Rosemary) and the added character of Juniper, Fort Greene carries off a breezy balance with the dulcet additions of floral lavender and bergamot.
Why name a scent Fort Greene? The beauty of their fragrances is that they stimulate the olfactory sense in a completely different way from your everyday cologne, perfume or scented lotion. Whether she knew it or not, when Mckenzie originally formulated their core scents, what she was doing was redefining the relationships between fragrance and wearer, fragrance and smeller, and probably wearer and smeller as a result! She was blazing trails in the cliche-fraught fragrance industry.
Their version of Fort Greene is a unisex blend of invigorating herbs and spices meant to regenerate, soothe and inspire. It is scented with juniper and rosemary, two incredibly uplifting herbs, and is balanced by lavender and bergamot to help create a beautifully balanced botanical blend of spiced, floral greens. The idea behind this scent was to reflect Fort Greene's rich and varied musical history. In their studio they listen to a well-balanced variety of hip hop, rock n' roll and classics to get our inspiration going: and so here's that inspiration, all bottled up, tin-sealed and ready for you to experience: Fort Greene.
Commando is the name given to the fragrance-free line of high-quality grooming products. The only smell will be those of the natural oils, waxes and butters with no added essences.
Why name a scent Commando? Many people desire products that are purely functional without the addition of fragrances. Some simply do not want their "product" competing aromatically with their favorite colognes and perfumes. Ever conscious of the needs, wants and desires of our customers, we decided to create fragrance-free versions of all our grooming products.
"To Go Commando" (aka free-balling) is an idiomatic phrase signifying the act of not wearing underwear. Brooklyn Grooming was having trouble coming up with a name for their unscented line since their core fragrances are all based on and named for historic Brooklyn neighbourhoods. No neighbourhood would have been flattered to be the namesake of the blank scent, so Brooklyn Grooming challenged friend-to-the-brand Jim Chu with the task of naming the unscented line. In only seconds he exclaimed "I've got it! Go commando!" And thus the Commando line was born.
The name was perfect because going without underwear is what you do when you want to be unencumbered and free from restraint, but you still have to cover up your body with clothes to step out into the world. So in these products expect everything necessary to perform their specific respective functions, but with nothing extra getting in the way or cramping your style.
Red Hook smells like Bay Rum with hints of Cardomom and Citrus. Together these spicy essences create a complex aroma suggestive of cinnamon's swashbuckling older brother.
Why Name a scent Red Hook? The historical home of industrial factories and warehouses, a navy yard and a cruise terminal, Red Hook is the current home to a burgeoning enclave of young artists and fringe creatives. We wanted to create a smell that is uplifting and thought-provoking, that would reflect not only the passion and raw talent of Red Hook's newest denizens, but also pay tribute to the neighborhood's nautical and industrial roots. Based on a classic Bay Rum recipe, Red Hook's aromatic balance was meant to be at once both modern and timeless, with an extra something imparting the fragrance with an air of familiarity and mystery, honoring and celebrating past and future.
ANCHOR's scent is a spiritually inspired blend of ancient exotic woods, balsam resins and blood orange essential oils.
The inclusion of Palo Santo, or "holy wood," adds a new dimension in the creation of ANCHOR's fragrance. Beyond the unburdening aroma of the ancient essence, Palo Santo is said to stimulate the immune system, and has been used by Amazonians for centuries in the warding off of evil spirits.
Anchor also sports a healthy dose of Himalayan Cedar Wood, an essence used in ancient eastern medicine whose aroma can encourage the opening of the heart channel thereby stimulating the mind and the facial complexion as well as overall circulation. The result? A beard oil that leaves your beard soft, your spirit calm & lifted, and you grounded--anchored--and ready for anything.
